Andrea Ceccherini ricevuto da Papa Benedetto XVI
November 30, 2011 was a historical date for the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori: Andrea Ceccherini, President of the Organization, accompanied by the members of the Organization’s Presidency Office, was received by Pope Benedict XVI in a private audience at the Vatican.
During the audience, dedicated to celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori, the Pontiff encouraged the President and the Organization to continue their work aimed at educating the young generations to read and compare newspapers in order to develop their critical spirit and civic awareness: this will help them become free thinkers and independent citizens, and play an active role in a stronger democracy.
In particular, Pope Benedict XVI emphasized the civil and social value of the “Newspaper in the Classroom” project, for which he expressed great appreciation.
At the end of the audience, Pope Benedict XVI gave a special blessing for the work of the Observatory and its staff members.
